कभी तन्हाइयों  में यूँ हमारी याद आएगी 
अँधेरे छा रहे होंगें  कि बिजली कौंध जायेगी। 
कभी तन्हाइयों  में यूँ   ………   

ये बिजली राख  कर जायेगी तेरे प्यार  की दुनिया 
न फिर तू जी सकेगा  और न तुझको  मौत आएगी । 

कभी तन्हाइयों  में यूँ हमारी याद आएगी 
अँधेरे छा रहे होंगें  कि बिजली कौंध जायेगी।

हँसी

काशी  नगरी में एक प्रसिद्ध और धनाढ्य सेठ रहा करते थे।  कई पीढ़ियोंसे उनका सोने-चांदी और बहुमूल्य रत्नों का कारोबार चलते आया था।  कम उम्र  में ही उनकी ख्याति दूर -दूर तक फैल गई थी।  अपने व्यापार और कारीगरी-चातुर्यके चलते वे नगर के बाहर के लोगों में भी काफी लोकप्रिय थे। 

लक्ष्मी  की पूर्ण  कृपा उनके ऊपर थी और अभी उन्हें दो पुत्रियों के पश्चात एक पुत्र रत्न की भी प्राप्ति हुई थी।  पूर्ण रूप से वैभवशाली होते हुए भी अधिक यश और धन की कामना सदेव उनके मन में बनी रहती थी।
 

सेठ जी ने काफी ऊँचे दामों पर एक जमीन का टुकड़ा लिया था।  आजकल उसी जमीन  पर वे एक आलीशान महल बनवा रहे थे।  अपने घर और व्यवसायसे फुर्सत पाकर वे महल बनाने वाले मजदूरों को निर्देश दिया करते थे| 

एक दिन वे प्रातःकाल मजदूरों को निर्देश दे रहे थे --------- ऐसा मजबूत और आलिशान महल बनाना   जो सात पीढ़ियोंतक यथावत रहे और उसमें ऐसी नक्काशी, चित्रकारी और रंग-रोगन हो कि  दूर-दूर से लोग उसकी शोभा देखने आए।  महल इतना अद्वितीय  हो की नगर में तो क्या  आस पास के इलाकों में भी उसका कोई सानी  न हो। 

तभी फक्कड़ बाबा वहां से गुजरे | फक्कड़ बाबा हिमालय की दुर्गम  चोटियों पर साधना करते थे और यदा कदा  विभिन्नतीर्थों का भ्रमण भी कर लिया करते थे।  नगर में वे भिक्षा माँग  कर अपना जीवन यापन करते थे।  फक्कड़  बाबा के कानों में सेठ जी की कही हुई बातें पहुंची।  सेठ जी की निगाह  फक्कड़ बाबा पर पड़ी तो देखा की बाबा एक शिशु की भांति  खिलखिला कर हंस रहे थे  और फिर बिना कुछ कहे वे वहां से प्रस्थान कर गए। सेठ जी को बाबा  का यह बर्ताव बहुत विचित्रलगा।

 

निर्माणाधीन स्थल से सेठ जी  अपनी हवेली लौटे।  घर पर उनकी पत्नी ने विभिन्नस्वादिष्ट पकवान बनाए  हुए थे।  सेठ जी स्नान कर भोजन करने  बैठ गए।  सेठानी ने काफी कुशलता से थाली में विभिन्न  पकवान और मिष्ठान  सजा कर परोसन  लगा दिया और अपने नवजात शिशु को गोदी में ले कर सेठ जी को पंखा  झलने लगी। 

भोजन का स्वाद लेते लेते सेठ जी अपने पुत्र की बाल सुलभ भंगिमाओं को मन्त्र-मुग्ध हो कर निहार रहे थे। 

 भावविभोर होकर सेठ जी अपनी पत्नी को कहने लगे --------देखना हमारा मुन्ना बड़े होकर अत्यंत कुशल व्यापारी बनेगा, मेरी कमाई हुई दौलत को वह चार गुणा पाँच गुणा  कर देगा। इसका यश और सम्मान इतना  होगा की हमारी सात पीढ़ियोंभी तर जाएंगी।  और आने वाली कई पीढ़ियोंतक लोग इसे याद रहेंगें। 

तभी सेठ जी की नज़र द्वार पर गई वहां फक्कड़ बाबा खड़े थे और एक रहस्यमयी हंसी उनके चहरे पर थी।  सेठ जी कुछ कहते इससे पहले ही सेठनी  ने उठ कर बाबा को भिक्षा दी और वे वहां से चले गए।  सेठ जी के मन में प्रश्नों के बबंडर उठने  लगे। 

भोजन के उपरांत सेठ जी अपनी दूकान पर जा बैठे।  दूकान में सुन्दर और कीमती आभूषणोंका अम्बार लगा हुआ था और कई कुशल कारीगर तत्परता से अपना  काम कर रहे थे।  तभी दरवाजे से एक हट्टा -कट्टा बकरा दूकान में  घुस   आया , भय से वह  काँप रहा था  , अत्यंत दीन  नज़रों से वह सेठ जी को देखने लगा।  इतने में उसके पीछे एक कसाई दूकान में घुसा  और बकरे को  जबरदस्ती अपने साथ ले जाने लगा।  बकरा याचना भरी आवाज़ से मिमयानेलगा। 

सेठ जी को उस बकरे पर दया आ गई और उन्होंने उस कसाई को कहा -------- यदि वह यह बकरा छोड़ देता है तो सेठ जी उसे एक मोहर देंगें।  कसाई भी पूरा घाघ था उसने फ़ौरन कहा------ सेठ जी यही तो मेरी आजीविका है अगर बकरे हो बचाना  है तो पूरे  15 मोहरें देनी होंगी। 

यह सुन  कर सेठ जी सोचा की एक बकरे पर 15 मोहरें खर्च करना बुद्धिमानी नहीं है , और कौन का मोहरें  मिलने  के बाद यह कसाई हिंसा करना  छोड़ देगा , आज इसको छोड़ देगा तो कल दूसरे ही हत्या करेगा ही । 

तभी सेठ जी ने एकदम तटस्थ भाव से बकरे का कान पकड़ उसे कसाई के हवाले कर दिया और कहा ------- लो भाई अपना माल खुद सम्भालो। 

तभी सेठ जी निगाह दरवाजे पर खड़े फक्कड़ बाबा पर पड़ी वे मुक्त गले से हंस रहे थे।  सेठ जी अब नहीं रहा गया , वे उठकर बाहर  आये और बाबा को प्रणाम कर बोले------ बाबा आज सुबह से तीन बार मुझे आपके दर्शन हुए , लेकिन तीनों बार आप एक    रहस्यमयी हंसी हँसे।  क्या मैं   इसका  भेद जान सकता हूँ ? क्या मुझसे कोई त्रुटि हुई है ?

बाबा अत्यंत सरलता से बोले ----- शाम  को   सूर्यास्त के पश्चात मणिकर्णिका घाट  पर आना , मैं वहां  तुम्हारी समस्त शंका का समाधान करूँगा |

सेठ जी सूर्यास्त से पहले ही घाट   पर पहुँच गये।  वहां अनेकों  चिताएँ  जल रही थी।  सगे  समबन्धी अपने प्रिय जनों के अवसान पर मार्मिकविलाप कर रहे थे।  सेठ जी को यह दृश्य बहुत कारुणिकलगा।  तभी  फक्कड़ बाबा अपनी मस्त-मौला चाल से वहां आये।  सेठ जी ने आदरपूर्वक उन्हें प्रणाम किया और पुनः  उनकी हँसी  का राज़ पूछा। 

  

बाबा संयत स्वर में कहने  लगे -----सेठ जी , याद कीजिये मैं आज  पहली बार आपको निर्माणधीन महल के स्थल पर मिला था।  आप कारीगरों को निर्देश दे रहे थे की वे  ऐसा मजबूत  महल बनाएं जो सात पीढ़ियोंतक  यथावत रहे| लेकिन आप स्वयं यह नहीं जानते हैं की आप खुद इस संसार में सात दिन के मेहमान हैं।  आज से ठीक सांतवेंदिन आपके सर में तीव्र वेदना होगी जिसके फलस्वरूप आपको यह देह त्यागनी पड़ेगी।

 

यह सुनकर सेठ जी को बहुत बड़ा आघात पहुंचा।  वे जानते थे  की बाबा के वचन कभी झूठे नहीं होते हैं।  अत्यंत मरियल आवाज़ में सेठ जी ने बाबा से पूछा----------आप दूसरी बार मुझे देख कर क्यों हँसे थे ?

बाबा ने शांत स्वर में कहा -------  याद करो दूसरी बार मैं तब हंसा था जब तुम अपनी धर्मपत्नी को कह रहे थे की तुम्हारा पुत्र तुम्हरी सात पीढ़ियों को तार देगा।  लेकिन तुम यह नहीं जानते की तुम्हारा इस जन्म  का पुत्र अपने पिछले जन्म में तुम्हरीइस जन्म की पत्नी का प्रेमी था , तुमने  अपनी पत्नी के चरित्र पर संदेह कर उसके प्रेमी की छलपूर्वक हत्या कर दी थी।  अब वही  तुमसे बदला  लेने के लिए तुम्हारा पुत्र बनकर आया है।  वह तुम्हारे और तुम्हारे  पुरखों द्वारा अर्जित समस्त धन, वैभव, मान और कीर्ति को धूल में मिला  देगा।   बड़े होकर वह इतना कुपात्र, दुर्गुणी और व्यसनी बनेगा की तुम्हारी आने वाली सात पुश्तें भी कलंकित  हो जायेंगीं। 

यह सब सुनकर सेठ जी पाँव तले  ज़मीन खिसक गई।  उनके पैर  लड़खड़ाने लगे, लगता था की वे मूर्छितहो जायेंगें।  फिर भी किसी तरह अपनी चेतना को कायम रख सेठ जी बोले------ बाबा मेरा संसार लूट गया है।  जीवन में अँधेरा छा  गया है।  फिर भी आप यह बता दें की तीसरी बार आप मुझे देख कर क्यों हँसें  थे?

बाबा ने सेठ जी आँखों में आँख डाल  कर कहा  ----- वह बकरा याद है जो तुमसे अपने प्राणोंकी भीख मांग रहा था और तुमने बड़ी निर्दयता से उसके कान पकड़ कर उसे कसाई के हवाले कर दिया था।  दरसल वह बकरा पिछले जन्म में तुम्हारा अपना  पिता था, उन्होंने छल  करके अपने कारीगर को उसकी पूरी मजदूरी नहीं दी थी।  इसलिए इस जन्म में वही कारीगर  कसाई बन कर तुम्हारे पिता के जीवन का अंत करेगा। 

तीन  रहस्यमयी हँसियोंने सेठ जी पूरी मानसिकता बदल दी।  वे जान गए की यह संसार ऋणानुबंध व्यापार से ही चलता है।   जो जैसे कर्मों के बीज बोता  है उसकी फसल किसी न किसी जन्म में उसे ही काटनी पड़ती है,  चाहे उसे याद हो या न हो। 

सेठ जी ने अपनी दो तिहाई सम्पत्ति गरीबों को दान कर दी , जिस किसी  के प्रति उनका बुरा बर्ताव था उससे माफ़ी मांगी।  सत्संग, भजन- पूजा रहते हुए परमसन्तोष भाव से ठीक सातवें दिन सेठ जी ने अपने प्राण त्याग दिए। 

यह कहानी हमने  बचपन में बड़े-बुजुर्गों से सुनी थी !
